Welcome to the fourth and final installment of Sustainable Fitness! For those who have been following along, we have come a long way since my first post seven weeks ago. Over the course of this time, we have discussed different exercise routines, various healthy habits, ways to stay disciplined and the benefits of doing all of the above.

So, congratulations on completing your first Sustainable Fitness cycle!

Reviewing your cycle

Now that you’ve completed a cycle, reflect on what worked for you and what didn’t. Consider the following:

  • Which exercise movements did I prefer? Which were not as practical?
  • Which stretches did I prefer? Which were not as practical?
  • Which healthy habits did I prefer? Which were not as practical?
  • Are there any movements, stretches or healthy habits that I would add to the cycle?

It is important to consider these questions because Sustainable Fitness does not end here. After your rest week, you’ll (hopefully) begin a new cycle. It could be the same cycle I provided, or it could be a version that you modify to best fit your preferences and situation.

The better fit your cycle is with your lifestyle, the easier it will be to maintain! I encourage you to modify anything from the specific movements in the workout circuits to the length of the cycle altogether. Remember, this is about making it as easy as possible for you to maintain.

What’s next?

Now that you have finished seven weeks of “work”, it is time to enjoy your well-deserved week of rest. That’s right. After urging you to complete daily exercise routines and implement multiple healthy habits into your everyday routine for seven weeks, I’m now urging you to forget all about it for the next seven days.

Why relax?

Believe it or not, I think a refreshing rest week is the most important ingredient to achieving success with the Sustainable Fitness cycle method. The key to the cycle method is that it is sustainable and will not burn you out. For this reason, it is crucial that you separate yourself from your daily fitness habits as much as possible during the rest week. In my experience, this rejuvenates one’s desire and ability to maintain these fitness habits.

So, be lazy and let your sugar tooth loose this coming week. You’ll be surprised how much you want to get back into the cycle once the week is over.

Spread the word!

If Sustainable Fitness worked for you and you know people who are looking for ways to simplify and improve their fitness routine, tell them about Sustainable Fitness! Even when public gyms become safe when the Covid-19 pandemic ends, the guidelines of discipline and simplicity that Sustainable Fitness provides can be easily translated into any environment.

With that in mind, enjoy your rest week! I hope Sustainable Fitness has provided you with a new perspective on how to maintain an effective fitness routine.
